Mini Pumpkin Pies — Cooking Class

These Mini Pumpkin Pies are a cozy twist on the classic holiday dessert. In our class, children enjoy rolling, cutting, and decorating their own little pies — skills that make them feel independent and creative. To keep the focus on the fun (and not on heavy kneading), the dough is prepared by adults beforehand, so kids can dive right into the hands-on steps.

What kids work with in this class:

Class Flow

❤️ Kids roll out the dough and cut circles for their mini pie bases.

❤️ They place the dough into muffin tins to form little crusts.

❤️ Each child mixes the pumpkin purée with sugar, spices, egg, and cream to make the filling.

❤️ Children fill their crusts (not all the way to the top!).

❤️ With leftover dough, they cut out leaves or festive shapes and decorate the tops.

❤️ Together we bake, wait, and then proudly taste their mini pumpkin pies.

Notes & Creative Touches

• Adult preparation: The dough is best prepared by adults before class. This way, children aren’t overwhelmed by kneading and can fully enjoy rolling, cutting, and decorating.

• Shortcut option: You can also use store-bought unbaked pie crusts — cut out shapes just the same way.

• Decorating fun: Encourage kids to make their pies unique — leaves, braids, or even little pumpkin shapes can go on top.

• Seasonal spirit: Perfect for group classes in autumn or holiday time — each child makes their own personal festive dessert.
